Digital images:

Resizing:

We can make most digital images smaller with minimal loss of quality.

We can make a digital image larger; however, we cannot guarantee the quality because the enlargement process results in adding data to the image to create filler, resulting in a blurry or jagged appearance. See our FAQs page for a workaround.

Corrections:

We can improve lighting, colors and contrast. We can repair red-eye (see our Rescues page for the repair of red-eye in animals) crop, and eliminate some undesirable elements. There's not much we can do for a blurry or badly focused image.

Optimization:

Making web graphics that are small in file size is an art and a science. The audience for your site can and will include those who have to rely on a dial-up connection and this is when producing a quality image that still has a small file size is necessary in order to prevent a slow-loading web page. We have successfully mastered a number of techniques to optimize images and still retain excellent quality.

See our FAQs page for tips on preparing and sending images to us.

Photos and logos:

Print photos

We can and will scan these with our equipment. Results are usually superior to images scanned by clients with home scanning equipment. Refer to the FAQs page for information on preparing files. If you don't have access to a quality scanner (or aren't proficient with one), try a service where a professional can do scans for you.

Logos and Artwork:

Provide letterheads, business cards, brochures, or whatever has your logo on it. Scanning artwork on a home scanner generally does not result in a quality image due to the nature of the print process. Having your logo or artwork professionally scanned is the best choice.

Product Photos:

Product photos should be clear and close-up with good lighting. If possible, hire a professional photographer. We do small product shots only. We can assemble collages and composites but these require more time and application.

Consider "people shots"

Photos of people enjoying your product or service is a built-in testimonial. (Written permission of subjects to use their photos online is necessary).

Consider the background of your photo:

White or neutral gray backgrounds are best for product photos. Check for competing or unwanted objects in the background. It takes more time to remove unattractive backgrounds and/or distracting objects.
